New York and Merlot.

I've had the pleasure of doing quite a few commissioned paintings recently; one of my favorite things to do, especially in the summer when I can paint in our screened in summer kichen. Love it! Here's a couple paintings I finished last week.

Memories for Christmas :)

This was the first year in a few years that my life wasn't consumed with school, so I was able to think ahead a bit more for Christmas gifts for my fam :) I made a few photo books of some of the greatest trips I have spent with my family, click on the books to view them online!

Memories are the best gifts, I think. No need to return or exchange them!

Ernie on da street

This is Ernie. As soon as I finish a sketch, I know their name. But not until then. I drew him a couple nights ago whilst Tams and I were watching the Stanley Cup finals.

Well, okay, she was watching, I was pretending I knew which team was which. [Although I AM miffed a Canadian team did not win, even though the American team had more Canadian players!!!.... but I digress.]

I was just gonna post the sketch of Monsieur Ernie... and [as I tend to do] got distracted and started colouring him... then I thought, 'Hey, what would it look like if I threw a real pic behind him?'. This is a pic I took the last time I was in NYC.

Just havin' fun experimenting!

Now I bid y'all adieu [all three of you] as I embark on a long weekend venture all the way down South to Ye Olde Grand Forks. Here I come, Target! [Or Tar-jay as some peeps like to call it.] I prefer T-dot-get. It sounds so posse-ish.

Painting the town orange

Since this week has been really busy with freelance, and I haven't had time to put towards other shtuff, here's a painting I did last summer for my bro.

He had got his own house, so I wanted to do up somethin' spayshul. I knew he liked NYC and the retro-feel, so here's what I came up with. I tried to match the same green as his walls - it worked out pretty well! Took me stinkin' foreeeeever, but I was happy with it in the end.

ps - I hated painting all those windows, ugh.

New Yorkin'

I finally got a quick chance to put up some pics from my most recent trip to NYC with my pops. It was a grand time, as always! We saw Phantom and Stomp....ate lotsa fun food...saw a lot of amazingly interesting peeps...good times!

This pic makes me laugh - it's my Vogue pic. My dad took it accidentally - I was smiling at the people beside me because they were about to walk in front of the camera, but it actually looks like I was doing a big pose. Sometimes the mistake pics are the best!

Serendipitous Server

Here's a quick sketch from my quick jaunt to New York City. My dad flew down to TO and we drove an easy 8-ish hours to the Lincoln Tunnel, where you emerge on the other side in another world. The Big Apple World, that is. I love it! It was my third visit...and each time I love it more.

Almost the most favorite of mine is the people there. The diversity of the people is so incredible, I love it! I wish I could take a week's vacation and just sit and draw the droves of people that walk by the busy BUSY streets. Ah, maybe one day :)

This time though, I convinced my dad to slow down a BIT more so I could at least release a smidge of creative energy. This gem of a lady was a walking caricature! I hope to colour her up and redo the linework, but here's my quick sketch. She's the manager from one of my fav eatery's in Manhattan - Serendipity [from the film of the same name].

I was hardly exaggerating this drawing either!!!
